Peace Congregational Church is actively involved in the following groups and organizations --

1. Clemson Area Congregations in Touch - Their mission is to provide an avenue for communication among congregations and faith groups and to undertake cooperative ministries.

2. Clemson Community Care - Their mission is to assist persons in difficult circumstances with necessities such as food, shelter and utilities, and to help them become self-sufficient through educational programs and advocacy.

3. Clemson Community Crop Walk - Peace participates in this annual fund-raiser to help combat the root causes of hunger through the work of Church World Service and Clemson Community Care. This year’s walk is Sunday, October 4th at 2:00 PM beginning at the Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.

4. Clemson University Campus Ministers Association - CCMA is an interfaith community of ministers from different religious traditions who serve the needs of the higher education community at Clemson . Religious learning and practice is encouraged; diverse faith traditions are respected; and high pressure proselytizing is discouraged.

5. Clemson University’s Habitat for Humanity Chapter - Helps provide affordable housing to the community with an emphasis on designing and building environmentally friendly homes. Peace has been active in serving meals to students who come in from other Universities for week-long work camps.

6. Clemson University’s Martin Luther King Celebration and Day of Service - This year Peace provided and served lunch to students participating in the day of service.

7. Clemson University’s One Clemson - One Clemson aims to strengthen our sense of community by encouraging respectful dialogue and increasing awareness of different cultures and backgrounds. Our Pastor is one of the facilitators for this project each fall.

8. Clemson University’s One World Project - Peace has been a proud sponsor of The One World Project for the past two years. This week long series of events provides forums for discussion on tolerance and diversity. One World promotes greater understanding and acceptance of all people, regardless of gender, race, age, religion, ethnic background or sexual orientation.

9. Clemson University’s Safe Zone Program - The mission of the Safe Zone Program is to make Clemson University a more welcoming and inclusive place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students, staff, and faculty. The program offers workshops to increase awareness and understanding of LGBT issues. Our Pastor and many members have completed the Safe Zone Training and our own Robin Chambers serves as a Facilitator. As part of this project, we have begun monthly gatherings for food and conversation with Safe Zone participants and allies from Clemson and Peace.

10. The Pendleton Alliance of Churches works cooperatively to sponsor weekly lunches during Lent at area churches including Peace Congregational and a Good Friday and Easter Sunrise service which our pastor helps to lead. We also participate with them in the Back Pack Project to provide school supplies for children in our school district who would not have what they need to begin the school year.

11. “T.G.” (Tolerance Group) - This group was founded by Peace Congregational Teens as a support group for LGBTQ young people and their allies – ages 16-21. It meets bi-weekly and is drawing students from four different high schools as well as Clemson University.

12. Upstate Locavores – Members of Peace Congregational have been instrumental in beginning and expanding this group that supports eating local foods.
  • We participate in quarterly potluck dinners using locally grown and produced food.
  • We were one of the sponsors of this year’s Garden Fest: Building Community, Growing Vegetables.
  • As our Lenten Project, we organized and raised money for the EarthBox Project that distributed gardening kits to 30 economically challenged families in the Clemson area so they could begin to grow their own food.
